Extensive refurbishment and extension of a Grade II listed private dwelling in Berkshire. A new contemporary kitchen wing penetrates the rear of the Georgian facade and extends the architectural language horizontally to the main stair core and vertically to the top lit second floor. Juxtaposed with this the historic fabric of the original house is maintained and restored to it's original state. The existing house was built by Jane Austin's Uncle, James Leigh-Perrot, to complement their winter residence in Bath where they first introduced Jane Austin to the city in 1797.
